We had the idea to build raised garden beds for a community garden on our property after hearing so many people say they would love to grow food like we do, but 1. don't have the space for it, 2. don't have the full sun in their yard, and 3. don't have the know how. We wanted to offer people a place they can grow with our help (and automated watering - that's the key!).
It turned out to be our Victory Garden when no one wanted to rent a bed and just like in times of war, it is working to provide both food and morale to us! We plan to grow summer squash, garlic, onions, pickling cucumbers, beets, shelling peas, broccoli and cauliflower, artichokes, carrots, soybeans, sweet potatoes, and much more. Yum!
